Who Cut the Credit Cheese?

Why You’ve Been Lied To, Confused, and Financially Played—And What You Can Do About It

Why You’ve Been Lied To, Confused, and Financially Played—And What You Can Do About It

“There are three things that cannot be hidden for very long: the sun, the moon, and the truth.”
– Buddhist proverb (and the inspiration for today’s takedown)

Let’s get one thing straight: the credit system in America wasn’t built for you—it was built to profit off your confusion.

And it’s working brilliantly.

We live in a world where:

  • Even if you don’t want credit, you’re judged by your lack of it.

  • Your credit score controls your access to homes, jobs, cars—even relationships.

  • The education you get on how credit actually works? Practically nonexistent.

Here’s the truth they won’t advertise during Monday Night Football:

The credit industry spends 50 times more money getting you to use credit than helping you understand it.

That’s not a typo. That’s their business model.

Let’s Start With a Quick Story

I once met a well-dressed, well-spoken man who proudly told me his credit score was 993. I asked him where he got that number.

He said: “CreditKarma.”

Turns out, he added his TransUnion and Equifax scores together.

Let that sink in.

That’s what we’re up against. A game where even smart people don’t know the rules—and the people who made the rules are banking on that.

Dazzle Me With Brilliance, or Baffle Me With Bull

The credit scoring industry, credit bureaus, and debt collectors have spent decades running a masterclass in confusion.

They use:

  • Partial truths

  • Overwhelming jargon

  • Friendly apps with free offers (CreditKarma, anyone?)

  • Misinformation repeated so often, it feels true

They don’t teach the rules. Because if they did, you might start to win.

If the product is free, you are the product.
CreditKarma pulls scores from just two bureaus (not three), doesn’t show FICO scores, and makes money by pushing credit cards at you.

It's a game. One where they hold the rulebook, and you get the bill.

Want a Few Examples?

  • There’s no such thing as one credit score. You have dozens. Mortgage lenders use different FICO versions depending on the bureau: FICO 2, 4, 5… not 9. Definitely not what you see on CreditKarma.

  • A study from the Brookings Institute called the number of errors in credit reports “astounding.”

  • A 2003 Public Interest Research Group report found that 79% of credit reports had mistakes.

  • The Equifax breach exposed the data of 143 million Americans. Congress made threats. Then… nothing changed.

  • Credit reports are treated like gospel—but they’re often riddled with errors, outdated info, and debt that’s already been paid.

And yet you, not the bureau, are responsible for finding and correcting mistakes. And the dispute process? It’s a joke. All they have to do is “verify” with the same creditor who sent the data in the first place. Guess who wins?

What’s the Cost of Not Knowing?

Here’s another real story:

A client was approved for a mortgage with a FICO score of 805. The report was 90 days old, so the lender pulled a new one.

New score? 623.

Why?
Because the client:

  1. Paid off two small medical collections, and

  2. Maxed out a credit card to furnish his new home.

Yep. Paying off collections and using available credit tanked his score by nearly 200 points—right before closing on a home.

That’s the system.

The Game is Rigged. But You Don’t Have to Be.

Imagine sitting at a chessboard for your financial life—but nobody tells you how the pieces move.

The bishops, pawns, rooks… all have their patterns. But you were handed a checkerboard education in a chessboard world.

I’m here to flip the script.

I’ve spent decades studying the system. I know the rules. I’ve coached people through every twist and trap. And I’m here to give you the playbook.

This isn’t about “hacking” your score.
It’s about understanding how the game is played—and playing it better than they ever expected.

Let’s Get Loud.

I’m not here to whisper behind closed doors. I’m here to shout truth from the rooftops—and give everyday people the credit literacy they should’ve been taught from the start.

And if you’re ready to finally understand how the system really works—and how to protect your money, your family, and your future—then pull up a chair.

Because class is in session.
